Cheon Woo-Sun

Cheon Woo-Sun (b. 1976 in Seoul, Korea) obtained his B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Metal Craft from Kyonggi University. Inspired by the shapes of traditional Korean ceramic jars from the Joseon period, Cheon welds long strips of metal and bends them to create various vessel forms. Each piece of wire is carefully welded and assembled in various directions to evoke a sense of movement and space. This linear experimentation is central to his work, requiring both technical mastery and a nuanced artistic sensibility. His skillful welding and finishing techniques transform cold metal into organic, flowing forms that evoke a rustic yet refined aesthetic. Throughout his career, Cheon has exhibited internationally at prominent fairs such as COLLECT, Tresor Contemporary Craft, and The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. His works are part of the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art Korea.
